AUSTIN, Texas (May 3, 2021) – TPC Racing completed an intense and busy weekend at Circuit of the Americas, making their GT America debut with a Lamborghini and competing in three different classes of the Porsche Sprint Challenge North America.

The race weekend included a wet and rainy Saturday for both the GT America and the Porsche Sprint Challenge, followed by temperatures climbing into the upper 80s on Sunday. The weather pattern provided a masters class in professional racing for TPC Racing drivers Sabré Cook, Jordan Wallace, Rob Lorndale and Scott Schmidt, all of whom signed on with TPC to improve as drivers.

Cook, making her first appearance in Porsche Sprint Challenge, scored a podium finish in Saturday’s wet race. Cook started fourth in the No. 37 TPC Racing/Apple Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 Cup overall and in the Platinum class for 991.2-generation GT3 Cup cars, but quickly moved to third and drove a flawless race to the finish. She started race two on Sunday in third position and despite an opening-lap spin that dropped her deep in the field, turned the third-quickest lap of the race and still finished eighth in class and on the lead lap.

Like Cook, Wallace joined the team for the first time at COTA in the Silver class driving the No. 35 TPC Racing Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport. Making his professional debut, Wallace crossed the finish-line in fifth in class during the wet race on Saturday and then completed the 40-minute race on Sunday third on track in class.

Lorndale’s No. 6 TPC Racing Porsche 911 GT3 finished a solid fifth in the rain and continued to improve during the dry race on Sunday. Pushing to gain a comfort level with the track, Lorndale turned his quickest lap of the weekend on lap 15 of 17 during Sunday’s race, pushing hard to a seventh-place finish.

Schmidt and TPC Racing both made their SRO GT America debut this weekend, with Schmidt running the Lamborghini Sterling/TPC Racing Lamborghini Super Trofeo EVO in the GT2 class. For Schmidt, the opportunity to run at COTA served as a high-intensity test session in advance of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo season opener, also at COTA in just three weeks. The car was the same Super Trofeo that he will co-drive with Trevor Andrusko during the season, though configured slightly different for SRO competition. Schmidt continued to improve throughout the weekend, finishing in the top 10 overall during Sunday’s race.

Schmidt and Andrusko will be in action during the Lamborghini Super Trofeo opener, May 21 – 23 at Circuit of the Americas. The Porsche Sprint Challenge team, joined once again by Pedro Torres, returns to action at Virginia International Raceway June 4-6.

Harris Levitas, Director of Race Operations: “Everybody did an incredible job this weekend at TPC Racing. We’ve been here for about a week and a half now, with the guys prepping the cars here at the track after doing some testing. I just can’t think everyone on the team enough for all of their hard work and dedication.

“Our Porsche drivers Sabré Cook, Rob Lordale and Jordan Wallace all did a fantastic job on track. I wish that Pedro Torres could have been with us this weekend, unfortunately he had to leave due to a family emergency and we’re keeping he and his family in our thoughts and prayers and hoping for the best for them. He’ll be back at VIR so we’re happy about that. Sabré is a newcomer to the team and comes from an open-wheel background. She stunned the entire paddock, I believe. She drove so great and I’m extremely proud of herself. She was hard on herself but I’m extremely proud of what she accomplished this weekend, getting on the podium her first time out. Rob did a fantastic job in the Gold car. We’re working on getting up to pace a little bit quicker on race starts and he’s doing an incredible job with that. Between now and the next race at VIR we’ll be doing a bit more testing and working on that with him, with Spencer Pumpelly really helping quite a bit. Jordan was a newcomer to the team as well and he’ll be running the rest of the season in a TPC Racing-prepped Cayman GT4 Competition. We’re excited to take delivery of that car in the next week and get started, but I have to thank Kevin and Debra Buckler and the team at TRG for helping us get started this week here at COTA. Without them we wouldn’t have been able to do it. Jordan drove that car from the back of the field today to P3 in class.

“That was our first GT America race weekend and it couldn’t have gone better. We had a great Lamborghini Sterling/TPC Racing Lamborghini Super Trofeo EVO, which is a GT2 car. We’re the first team to debut that in the United States. To have Scott Schmidt drive that as well as he did, earning a top-10 overall and yesterday setting the seventh-quickest overall lap in the rain, I’d say that’s pretty impressive.”

Sabré Cook, Driver, No. 37 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup: “There was lots of learning this weekend. TPC and Spencer Pumpelly have been great at coaching me through it and giving me all the advice and tools that I need. Everyone is working really hard with the car and myself to get the best result possible. I was happy to get the podium yesterday. Today, I’m sorry to the guys, I just made that mistake on the first lap and had the spin. I’m glad we were able to recover. I’m really looking forward to taking everything I learned this week and putting it together at VIR.”

Rob Lorndale, Driver, No. 6 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup: “It wasn’t the weekend I was hoping for, but it’s a long season and every race is important in terms of the Championship point standings. I finished well enough so that I’m picking up points and we’ll take that on to VIR. That’s a track where I have a lot of experience, I feel comfortable there, and I’m looking forward to better results. It’s been tremendous, the support that the drivers get with TPC Racing. The car is close to perfect for us. We work with Spencer Pumpelly, who is just an excellent coach. I can’t say enough about my experience with him. What I did well at Circuit of the Americas, I give full credit to Spencer. He was very patient with me. The mistakes I made were all my own. I’m having a lot of fun with everyone on the team. I’m thrilled to be a part of TPC Racing.”

Jordan Wallace, Driver, No. 35 TPC Racing Porsche Cayman GT3 Clubsport: “I feel like I’ve learned a ton this weekend. The TPC guys gave me a great car from the jump. We had very little adjustment to make to the car, it was more so adjustments to line and getting use to the car and how it felt. Once we got to full commitment in the Esses, I think we started to hunt the field and I think it felt really good. Four or five sessions in, I’m feeling like I’ve got a lot to learn still but also a lot to gain, and that feels really good. I lucked out with the conditions. About 10 years ago I went to Skip Barber down in Sebring and it poured rain, so I’ve been lucky in that sense and growing up on the east coast the wet doesn’t bother me. But it was definitely something to get used to in this Cayman Clubsport. Just getting the feel for the car and how easy it is to drive. I found myself tip-toeing, but now it’s time to stomp around.”

Scott Schmidt, Driver, No. 381 Lamborghini Super Trofeo EVO: “I’ve been on this track five times, but only twice in this car. The prep that we did leading up to this event, and the coaching, and TPC Racing collectively gave me a comfort that I’ve not ever had in the car before. I really wanted to start mid-pack, front-pack to see if I could hold on. I allowed two to pass and they got away from me but once we got into a few laps, we were running really good paces. My co-driver Trevor Andrusko does my coaching, but as we communicate in the trailer here you will hear from other coaches. Even though we are individual drivers with individual coaches, they collectively share data. Spencer Pumpelly was in our car and helped us set-up, and I don’t know if you get that cooperation with other pro teams. I think the other Super Trofeo teams missed an excellent opportunity to re-familiarize yourself with the track and see how the car performs. I can tell you this, by us being here we are going to be faster and much more competitive.”
