TPC Racing Heads to Road Atlanta for 2019 IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama Season Finale
BRASELTON, Georgia (October 7, 2019) – TPC Racing heads to Road Atlanta for the final rounds of the 2019 IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama series with a four car effort. Drivers Vernon McClure, Tom Kerr, Dan Hardee and Randal Bryant have all driven a great season and are looking forward to the doubleheader at Road Atlanta.
The TPC Racing team and all four drivers were just at Road Atlanta last week and had a successful two day test. The test was to get all drivers up to pace and fine tune the chassis to make for less work during the IMSA Promoter Test event leading into official practice. The team accomplished all of those goals and goes into the season finale with strong cars and the drivers go in having data and video that they have been studying for about a week.
“We had good cars right off of the trailer going into the test last week and only made some very small changes when our team driver coach Mike Skeen was behind the wheel. The drivers were all quick and able to run consistent laps, so I think we are in good shape for the final two races of the year,” TPC Racing Director of Race Operations Harris Levitas said. “Vernon McClure heads into these final two races sitting third in the Platinum Masters Championship and during the test he was extremely focused and kept improving his lap times. This is Vernon’s first season racing in this series and first season racing a Porsche car, so for him to be in this position in his first year doing this is a true accomplishment. Vernon scored his first podium finish at VIR after driving the hardest I think I have seen him drive all year, but during last week’s test, he took a lot of notes, focused on improving and is really motivated to do well. Tom Kerr and Dan Hardee each ran great lap times last week and tremendously bettered their lap times from last season when they raced at Road Atlanta, so I am very happy for them and look for them to have good runs during the two races. Randal Bryant had a great test. This is Randal’s first season racing in this series and in a GT3 Cup car. He has only run a limited number or races this season, but each time out after lots of time working on coaching, Randal has run very well. For Randal’s first time at Road Atlanta and in this car with the lap times he was turning, I think that he will have a very good race in the Gold Class. It seems like the year has gone by fast this season. We have had a lot of great runs and the drivers have done a fantastic job. The TPC Racing team preparing the cars and working on them each weekend at the track to keep them in front running condition is amazing. These guys are the best and I thank them for a great year.”
