The No. 36 Porsche, driven by Michael Levitas, boasting the latest DSC Sport/Tractive suspension engineering, posted the top Gold Cup class times in two practices, captured pole and earned two wins. The car sailed through the historic circuit, setting a qualifying lap record and race lap record for a Porsche 997, with the only addition this year being the DSC Sport computer and Tractive dynamic dampers.

“The difference from a year ago without DSC is uncanny,” DSC Sport CEO and driver Levitas said. “You can lean so much harder into the turn, and laterally and longitudinally everything is just a dream. It was almost too easy to drive. My times improved by over a second from last year and all we did was change to the DSC Sport suspension package. We customized the mapping and boom we were there.”

Watkins Glen International is an 11-turn, 3.4-mile circuit that is known to sports car fans as a mecca of North American road courses. The fast, flowing track demands respect from the driver, especially in the challenging “The Boot,” one of the most famous turn sequences in North America.

While other cars were sliding through turns and enduring rough rides over the curbing, the No. 36, driven by seasoned veteran Levitas, had minimal drama.

“You couldn’t lean hard enough into the corner,” Levitas said. “I could do no wrong. It may have been the best car I’ve ever been in. I couldn’t even feel the curbing on the way into the Bus Stop (chicane). I was going 97 mph through there, faster than the Platinum (Type 991) cars. And that’s all thanks to DSC Sport and Tractive and the work of our incredible engineering of Doug, Eric and Rob, and the TPC Racing team doing setup at the track. This team seems unstoppable.”

DSC Sport is the leading developer and manufacturer of active control modules for electronic suspension. By controlling the individual damping value of each shock in virtually real time, DSC Sport provides more grip to the tire, greater stability and ride control.

By accessing the CAN data system, DSC Sport anticipates and acts upon the rate of change of various inputs including lateral, longitudinal, and vertical g-force, vehicle speed, steering angle, brake pressure and damper velocity to optimize the damping value of each individual shock, providing a huge advantage on the track.

“My fast lap was set on old tires,” Levitas said. “The tire wear was amazing and the level of grip was unmatched. When the chassis is unloaded, the computer treats is completely different than the loaded condition, so the driver becomes the load, not the car. Turn 10 was incredible. You could go flat up to the corner and slide the car up into the curbing while standing flat on the accelerator, but it was natural because the rear grip was remarkable; almost alive.”

The No. 36 DSC Sport Porsche is the only car in sports car racing that is outfitted with the entire DSC Sport and Tractive Suspension system.

It helped lead to not only two class wins, but a ninth- and fifth-place overall finish in Round 5 and 6 of the championship, respectively, outperforming over half the field of newer, wider and more powerful Porsche 991 GT3 Cup cars.

The fifth-place overall finish came in Round 6, which took place in the wet.

“The car was equally as good in the rain,” Levitas said. “It was no different, because the car is always self-calibrating with the DSC computer.”

The DSC Sport computer and Tractive Suspension shocks used on the No. 36 Porsche are off the shelf and identical to the products available for street and track day customers.

Mapping and base maps from testing and track use are used to continually improve and add features to the product line. DSC Sport will add the DSC Sport Software Suite this summer. The software will allow users to create, share and swap custom maps tuned to their unique driving style, vehicle setup or track conditions on a smartphone, tablet or laptop.

For Levitas, it has been a season of catching up. For Williams, it has been about consistency. All season, both Levitas and Williams have been fast, but the TPC Racing team has prepared the cars to give both drivers a chance to fight for championships.

 Going into the final race weekend of the year, Michael Levitas in the 35 TPC Racing / Merkle / Under Armour entry was sitting second overall in the Gold Class points standings and in Gold Masters, Levitas was in third. In the Platinum category, David Williams was in fourth place in the Masters Points standings, just two points out of third. Both Levitas and Williams knew that it would come down to the last lap of the last race to determine what happens in the championship, but they both needed to be smart during both races.

When Race one of the weekend started, David Williams took the green flag and secured third place in the Platinum Masters Championship. Williams did a fantastic job all season staying smooth and consistent while getting faster at each event. For Michael Levitas, things were tougher. IMSA started Levitas at the back of the field after qualifying. On lap three of Race One, Michael moved his 35 TPC Racing Porsche from last on the grid up to P3 in class. While having the leaders in sight, Levitas pushed his Porsche GT3 Cup car harder and harder which led to a spin in turn seven. Michael regrouped quickly and fought his way up to a fourth place finish which was a third place finish in the Gold Masters category. After race one, Levitas was just four points out of first in the Masters Championship.

For Race two of the weekend, the final round of the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama for the 2014 season, it was a rain race. David Williams was starting P3 in Platinum Masters and Levitas was starting P2 in the Gold class. Williams knew all he had to do was finish the race, so he ran smart. At the start, cars went off leading into turn one and David Williams took the lead in the Platinum Masters category and Levitas took the lead in Gold. When the field went back to green flag racing, Michael Levitas pulled a 3 second lead and never looked back as he drove his Gold class TPC Racing Porsche up to 6th place overall. As Levitas was leading in the Gold category, the car he needed to have finish in fourth in order to secure the championship was sitting in fourth place in the Gold category. With ten minutes remaining, the car running in third went off track entering turn one and the other car moved into the third position. When the checkered flag came out, Michael Levitas took the win in the Gold class while David Williams finished second in Platinum Masters. With Levitas taking the win and the other car finishing third, Levitas finished second in the Gold Masters championship just one point out of first.

“What a weekend,” Levitas said. “It had so much drama. During qualifying I only got in one lap because our transmission broke. We got the gearbox put back together. We got moved back, disqualified. So to come back yesterday and drive from the back of the field up to P3 and spin it, today I just had to put my head down and work and pull off a win. After a drama filled weekend, it was great to take the win and finish the season on a high note. I have to thank my TPC Racing team for all of the hard work this weekend and all season long. They work extremely hard to prepare the best possible car for me and it shows every time I get in it. I also have to say thank you to Damien Faulkner. This season, Damien has come on board for coaching and has helped me tremendously.”

“It was a great race weekend,” said David Williams. “It was a war of attrition. The start was crazy, so I survived that, and then from there it was about not making mistakes. Great facility. The rain tapered off there at the end, so the line got pretty dry, and it was a lot of fun. A huge thank you to the TPC Racing team for everything this season. They do a great job preparing the car for me and it has been great all year. Thank you to Damien Faulkner as well. Damien has helped a ton this season on the coaching side and helping get the car set up. This race was a great way to end the year and I look forward to doing more racing!”

(May 27, 2014) Jessup, MD – Over Memorial Day weekend, the TPC Racing team was at Lime Rock Park for rounds five and six of the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama Series. The weekend was a short and busy weekend, but the TPC Racing team was ready to take on the weekend in full force. For this event, there was not a promoter test day, so the track time was limited. Practice and qualifying all happened in one day and races one and two of the weekend were the following day.

Practice started off well for both Michael Levitas, piloting the 35 TPC Racing / Merkle / Under Armour entry and David Williams, piloting the 37 TPC Racing / Merkle / Under Armour machine. Levitas started off the day in the top three in Gold during practice and there was room to improve with the car. David Williams had a fantastic start to the weekend with times running in the top ten in Platinum and top three in Platinum Masters.

The TPC Racing team worked hard between practice and qualifying, making changes to both the 35 and 37 TPC Racing / Merkle / Under Armour cars. The team had high hopes for qualifying. Looking at the sky, the team knew rain was on the way. IMSA started the qualifying session early to try and beat the rain. With rain coming in, both Levitas and Williams knew that they had to turn their fast laps right away. The team was able to get seven laps in before the track became wet. During qualifying, the team is not allowed to change tires, so it was important to do well early in the session. Michael Levitas qualified second in Gold and first in Gold Masters. David Williams qualified ninth in Platinum and second in Platinum Masters. The TPC Racing team was happy with the qualifying results and looked to gain positions in the two races the following day.

The team got to Lime Rock early on Saturday morning to do last minute preparations on the 35 and 37 TPC Racing / Merkle / Under Armour entries before race one of the day. The weather was looking clear and the team was ready for a good exciting race. With Lime Rock being a small and tight track, both Michael Levitas and David Williams knew it was important to have a good clean start and to hold position. On the start, Levitas was held up by a Platinum car and got passed by another Gold car. Michael Levitas was running a strong race and running lap times faster than the Gold cars in front of him and made the pass for second in Gold and first in Masters. As Levitas was battling with the second place car, the leader pulled a gap and by the time the 35 TPC Racing GT3 Cup made the pass for second, there was not enough time to catch the leader even though Levitas was able to run faster lap times. When the checkered flag came out, Michael Levitas took second place in Gold and first in Gold Masters. It was a great race and a great race for points.

“I have to tell you that was one of the best races I’ve ever been in,” stated Michael Levitas. “I don’t know if it was a race or a bullfight. There were no mirrors. I noticed halfway through that from running over the gators my mirrors were facing down. At that point, I’m just thinking: ‘Who needs it? It doesn’t matter.’ It was really tight, and everyone has some really great racing. Our TPC Racing team worked really hard this weekend on setup. It was a little tight, but tight was working for us because it let us get really good lap times at the end. IMSA did a fantastic job with that race, and that was just classic Lime Rock action.”

David Williams ran a spectacular race in the Platinum Class running the 37 TPC Racing / Merkle / Under Armour 991 GT3 Cup. Williams started ninth overall and got passed on the start after being held up at the start. David knew he had to run a clean race and he did exactly that. Williams ran fast and consistent laps that were very competitive with the top five overall lap times. When the checkered flag came out, David Williams took tenth in Platinum and third in Platinum Masters. Williams ran a great race and the goal was to be on the Masters podium which David was able to achieve that.

“This was a great race,” stated Williams. “It was a dogfight out there. I started second and finished third, so I can’t be mad about it. The TPC Racing team did an awesome job setting up my car. The car was fantastic and easy to drive which gave me a lot of confidence. There were a lot of passes back and forth and a lot of hard racing. With everything going on you have to stay looking forward and not in your mirrors, and it’s a focus track; you have to stay focused. I love this place. It’s a great rhythm track. A huge thank you again to our TPC Racing / Merkle team for such a great car!

Four hours after race one, the TPC Racing team had both cars prepared and ready to take on race two. There were a lot of clouds, so the team was prepared for rain. IMSA did not declare it a wet race while the cars were on the false grid, so the team took tires to pit lane to be safe. As the cars were rolling from false grid onto the track, it started to pour. Immediately, IMSA came on the radio and declared it a wet race and all teams went to pit boxes for rain tires. The TPC Racing team worked hard and fast in what was already over two inches of standing water on pit lane. The team was ready for rain and all cars lined up on pit road waiting for the race to start. IMSA safety vehicles were on track and the rain kept coming down. At this point, the water was already up to the front splitters and the rain was not letting up. With more rain coming down and the track flooding, IMSA declared that race two of the weekend and round six of the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama be abandoned due to unsafe conditions. IMSA will be determining how to apply points for this event. In the end, it was a good call by the series as they were looking out for the drivers.

The next race for the TPC Racing team is Watkins Glen for rounds seven and eight of the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge series the weekend of June 27-29.

The TPC Racing / Merkle / Under Armour team has been hard at work getting the 35 GT3 Cup of Michael Levitas and the 37 GT3 Cup of David Williams ready to fight for the top step of the podium once again.

The Lime Rock Park race weekend will have a shortened schedule, only being on track Friday for two practice sessions and qualifying with both races being on Saturday. With the shortened time, the team has been working hard on chassis setup in order to have a strong car right off of the trailer.

Coming off of a successful race weekend at Laguna Seca, Michael Levitas is excited to get back to Lime Rock Park. 2011 was the last time that Levitas raced at LimeRockPark and he is looking forward to being back there again in the 35 TPC Racing / Merkle / Under Armour entry.

“I am very excited to go back to Lime Rock”, stated Michael Levitas. “We had a great race in the Gold Class a few weeks ago at Laguna Seca and I hope to be on the top step of the podium again. The TPC Racing / Merkle / Under Armour team has been working hard and I think we will have a strong car at Lime Rock. Lime Rock is a tight track and not a ton of room to pass, so with that and the limited track time that we will be getting, I believe we will have a strong car to fight with. I am happy to be back in the Gold Class, and after our race at Laguna, I cannot wait to see how competitive our class will be at Lime Rock.”

David Williams has been doing great this season in the 37 TPC Racing / Merkle / Under Armour GT3 Cup and has been reaching each personal goal that he has made. The TPC Racing team has been hard at work with the 991 chassis and Williams will have a strong car to be competitive at Lime Rock.

“I am looking forward to being back at Lime Roc kPark”, stated David Williams. “I have not been to Lime Rock in a long time, but when I was there last for a PCA Club Race I was on pole my first time out. The TPC Racing team has been doing a great job this season with the 991 GT3 Cup and I think that we will be very competitive at Lime Rock.”

]]> TPC Racing Victorious at Laguna Seca https://www.tpcracing.com/tpc-racing-victorious-at-laguna-seca/ Wed, 07 May 2014 14:39:41 +0000 https://www.tpcracing.com/?p=304 (May 7, 2014) Jessup, MD – The TPC Racing / Merkle / Under Armour race team went into rounds three and four of the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama wanting to repeat the results of 2013, winning. Michael Levitas, driver of the 35 TPC Racing / Merkle / Under Armour GT3 Cup and David Williams, driver of the 37 Merkle / TPC Racing / Under Armour GT3 Cup went into the weekend feeling confident and knew that the TPC Racing team would deliver strong cars to drive.

Rounds three and four of the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama would make for Michael Levitas’ return to the Gold Class, piloting the teams number 35 997 model GT3 Cup. In 2013, Levitas won the Gold Class drivers and Masters drivers’ championships and looks to do the same in 2014.

“I have gotten some testing in with the TPC Racing number 35 car and felt very comfortable in it,” stated Michael Levitas. “Our TPC Racing team knows the chassis so well and I have always felt great in the 997. The 991 is fantastic, but the 997 is very satisfying for me to drive. I know that with the skill of our engineering staff, our coaches Damien Faulkner and Randy Pobst, the TPC Racing team will give me a car that I can be competitive with to fight for more wins. I came into the fight late, so in order to win the championship this year, I need to be on the podium each race weekend.”

Levitas worked hard and had a great race weekend. The team got the car sorted in practice and Michael took the 35 TPC Racing / Merkle / Under Armour GT3 Cup and put it on the top of the timing charts in qualifying. On the last lap, Levitas was knocked off of pole position, and only a few hundredths separated the top three qualifiers in Gold.

Michael Levitas took the green flag starting second in race one. Going into turn two, Levitas made the pass for the lead and held onto his position until the end. Toward the end of the race, there was a caution which bunched up the field. The finished ended up being a green-white-checker shootout to the finish. Michael did a fantastic job and held his position while everyone battled behind the 35 TPC Racing / Merkle / Under Armour machine. Levitas was able to take the checkered flag and win both the Gold and Gold Masters.

“Great race, absolutely fantastic,” stated Levitas. “The TPC Racing Porsche was outstanding. The guys did an amazing job on the setup. It was great through 3 and 4 and just killer through 9 and 10. The competition was off the charts! I had to run every lap with no mistakes. We were within a second the entire race. It was just absolute mayhem. I would work so hard to make up that one-second and boom, we’d have to restart and I would have to do it over again. I really have to thank our coach Damien Faulkner for the racing advice and calming myself down to drive such a great race. Also, a huge thanks to IMSA and all of the competitors for such an amazing race.”

David Williams was doing a fantastic job in the 37 Merkle / TPC Racing / Under Armour entry. David worked hard on his driving and was working hard for a solid finish in the Platinum class running his 2014 991 GT3 Cup. The TPC Racing team worked hard as well and delivered a great chassis that Williams was confident in to run a strong race.

“The TPC Racing team gave me a fantastic car,” stated David Williams. “The car was great and working with Damien Faulkner helped me tremendously. I was able to drive extremely well and felt great in the car.

David Williams started the race in the mix of the Gold competitors and got through the group right away. Qualifying did not go how Williams expected, so it was important to get a clean start. David did a fantastic job and had a great race, picking through the field one car after the next. It was clean racing with no mistakes. David Williams drove a fantastic race, winning the Yokohama Hard Charger award after starting 22nd and finishing 16th.

“I had a great start,” stated David Williams. “Right on the outside was wide open, and I probably made up five spots there on the start. I was running consistent after that and it was a great race. My TPC Racing / Merkle / Under Armour car was just fantastic. A huge thank you to the entire TPC Racing team.”

The TPC Racing team looks forward to the next rounds on Memorial Day weekend at LimeRockPark.

Since taking delivery of the teams two 2014 Porsche 991 GT3 Cup cars in December, the TPC Racing team has been working hard to better sort the new chassis. At Sebring, lady luck was not in TPC Racings favor, but the team will turn that around at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

For rounds three and four at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California, Michael Levitas will make the switch to the Gold Class running the teams 35 TPC Racing 997 GT3 Cup. In 2013, Levitas won the Gold Championship and will fight to do the same in 2014. The 35 TPC Racing entry will be very competitive to fight for the Gold Class win.

“I am very happy to be back in the Gold Class,” stated Michael Levitas. “I really enjoyed driving my 991 GT3 Cup, but after Sebring, the 36 car was not ready for Laguna Seca. I took the 35 TPC Racing 997 GT3 Cup out for a test and remembered how much I liked driving the car, so I am excited to take it out at Laguna Seca. The TPC Racing / Merkle team has worked so hard and I think that we have a shot at winning. I will miss being in the same class at my teammate David Williams, but David will be fighting hard in the Platinum Class.”

David Williams is looking forward to getting his 37 TPC Racing / Merkle 991 GT3 Cup back out on track since rounds one and two at Sebring. Williams has been working hard to adjust to the new car and has done a great job. In round two at Sebring, David Williams set his fastest lap of the weekend on the last lap on the race and it ended up being the ninth quickest lap of the race. Williams looks to take that momentum forward to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

“The TPC Racing / Merkle team has been working very hard on the 991 GT3 Cup since we got them in December and that hard work has been displayed each time we are out in these cars,” stated David Williams. “I have been getting more and more comfortable with the car and the team has been doing a great job setting it up for me. We are also fortunate to have Damien Faulkner and Randy Pobst coaching, so with their help, I am definitely getting faster. I enjoyed racing at Laguna Seca last season in Gold and am looking forward to racing there again in Platinum!”

The TPC Racing starts on track with Promoter Testing on Thursday, May 1st. The 35 and 37 TPC Racing / Merkle entries will then take to the track for official practice on Friday, May 2nd with qualifying Saturday and rounds three and four on Sunday.

All three TPC Racing GT3 Cup cars were fast and very competitive. Michael Levitas changed cars for the weekend and drove the 35 Porsche of Towson entry in the Platinum class, Ben Keating switched to the 36 Porsche of Towson car for the weekend in Gold and David Williams piloted his 37 Merkle / Porsche of Towson GT3 Cup for the season finale.

Right off of the trailer the cars were fast. Michael Levitas was adjusting to the 35 car, as this was his first time racing the Platinum entry. Levitas decided to race in Platinum for the season finale since he had secured the Gold Championship and will be racing Platinum next season. By race day, Levitas had the car figured out and he finished third in Platinum Masters.

“I decided to race in Platinum for the season finale since I had already secured the drivers championship in Gold,” stated Michael Levitas. “I wanted to see how I stacked up against the Platinum drivers since I will be running in Platinum next season. We had a good car and I was learning the car more and more each time out in it. It was great to finish third in the Platinum Masters category and our 35 Porsche of Towson car was great! The TPC Racing team worked so hard and did a fantastic job all weekend to make the car competitive. I look forward to being back out in the Platinum class in a new car next season.”

Ben Keating was very impressive in the 36 Porsche of Towson car. Not only was Keating the fastest car in the Gold Class, but Ben was mixing it up with the top ten Platinum Class cars. In race one of the weekend, Ben Keating finished seventh overall, first in class and for race two Keating finished ninth overall, first in class again and still running the same lap times as the top five Platinum cars.

“It was really fun,” stated Ben Keating. “The TPC Racing team had the perfect setup on the 36 Porsche of Towson GT3 Cup and I was running competitive lap times with the Platinum Class cars. In the rain, we were right there in the fight with the Platinum Cars, and in the dry, the car was just perfect. I have enjoyed working with Mike Levitas and the TPC Racing team this season. Every time out, we have found the setup on the car and the team has given me a car that I can always drive fast and be comfortable in. It has been a blast!”

David Williams had a strong run in the Gold Class in his 37 Merkle / Porsche of Towson GT3 Cup. Williams started fourth in both races, but made his way up to second place on the first lap. David drove smart and also had a nice battle with the third place car that made for an exciting race to watch.

“It was intense out there, but I survived it,” stated David Williams. “My TPC Racing / Merkle GT3 Cup was great all weekend. I had a great battle and held on for second place which was a lot of fun. I like when there is competition and it was a great way to end the season. To have secured second place in the Gold Championship was very rewarding and I could not have done this without the support of my teammate Michael Levitas and the entire TPC Racing team. I can’t wait for next year!”

Since the last round at Circuit of the Americas, the 35, 36 and 37 Porsche of Towson GT3 Cup cars have been prepared to be successful for the season finale.

For Road Atlanta, the 35 Porsche of Towson GT3 Cup will see a new pilot for the weekend. After securing his Championship in the Gold Class at Circuit of the Americas, Michael Levitas will be behind the wheel of the teams #35 Porsche of Towson Platinum Class entry for the weekend. Levitas expects to run strong and learn what the Platinum class is like for the transition into Platinum next season in a new car.

“I am very excited to drive the 35 Porsche of Towson entry in the Platinum Class”, stated Michael Levitas. “I have had an amazing season in the 36 Porsche of Towson entry in the Gold Class, and it is an absolute honor to have secured the Gold Class Championship. Being that the Championship has been secured and that I will be running in Platinum next season, I want to see what the field is like. I know that the TPC Racing team has prepared a fantastic car for me to run competitive laps in, so I hope to be at the front of the pack!”

The Gold Class Championship winning 36 Porsche of Towson GT3 Cup will run at Road Atlanta for the season finale, and Ben Keating will be behind the wheel. Keating has proven to be a strong driver, always driving smooth and consistent, but also fast. The Gold Class car is different from the Platinum Class machine that Ben Keating is used to driving, but TPC Racing team has worked hard and will have a strong car for Keating to drive to the front with.

David Williams will be running the 37 Merkle / Porsche of Towson entry for the season finale as he has already secured the second position in the Gold Class Championship. Williams has run strong all season and has been quicker and quicker each time out. Road Atlanta is a track that David Williams has run at before, so with his knowledge of the circuit and the chassis setup by TPC Racing, expect to see the 37 Merkle / Porsche of Towson GT3 Cup running up front in the Gold Class.

]]> TPC Racing Successful at Circuit of the Americas https://www.tpcracing.com/tpc-racing-successful-at-circuit-of-the-americas/ Thu, 26 Sep 2013 14:59:23 +0000 https://www.tpcracing.com/?p=319 Jessup, MD., (Sept. 26, 2013) – For rounds thirteen and fourteen of the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama Series, the TPC Racing / Porsche of Towson team took to the track at Circuit of the Americas. This was the first time that the team had been to Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, but Ben Keating, Michael Levitas and David Williams all got up to speed quickly.

The weekend was action packed with ALMS and also WEC being at Circuit of the Americas, but this also limited the teams time on track. The 35, 36 and 37 TPC Racing / Porsche of Towson GT3 Cup cars had two test sessions and two practice sessions before qualifying. During the practice sessions, the team worked hard on chassis setup to prepare strong cars for qualifying. Once it came time to qualify though, there was a short downpour as the cars were on grid. IMSA did not call the qualifying session to be a wet session though since the sky was clearing up but the track surface was wet, so the team could not put rain tires on. With this happening, qualifying was cancelled and the cars would grid based off of combined practice times.

For race one of the weekend, the skies opened up once again and the team would go out on rain tires. During the race, it was raining the entire time which made for an interesting race. Ben Keating would start further back in the field due to not having a qualifying session, starting nineteenth on the grid in the 35 Porsche of Towson GT3 Cup. Michael Levitas started second in the Gold Class in his 36 Porsche of Towson GT3 Cup with teammate David Williams starting in third in his 37 Merkle / Porsche of Towson entry.

At the start of the race, Ben Keating made up three positions in turn one and had a fantastic start to the race. Levitas in the 36 Porsche of Towson entry was fighting with Platinum traffic to catch the Gold leader and Williams was holding a consistent pace to keep up with Levitas. During the race, there were many caution periods which made for only five laps of green flag racing. This did not give the team enough time to fight for higher positions on track, but Levitas and Williams who have proven to be a dynamic duo finished second and third in Gold.

Race two of the weekend was a great race with a dry track. Michael Levitas and David Williams went out on track with one goal in mind which was to survive the race to secure the championship. Levitas started the race in second once again and David Williams started in fourth. At the drop of the green flag, David Williams had a great run in the 37 Merkle / Porsche of Towson GT3 Cup and made a great pass for third. From there, the race would not see a caution period and the 36 and 37 TPC Racing / Porsche of Towson / Merkle GT3 Cup cars would finish second and third, but more importantly secure the team and drivers championship.

With the strong finishing position by both Michael Levitas and David Williams, this allowed Michael Levitas to secure the Drivers Championship, David Williams secured second place in the Drivers Championship and the TPC Racing / Porsche of Towson / Merkle team secured the Team Championship.

“Racing at Circuit of the Americas in my Porsche of Towson GT3 Cup car was fantastic,” stated Michael Levitas. “It is a great track and I hope to race here again. We had one goal in mind this weekend and it was to keep the cars in one piece and secure the championship. We accomplished that and it could not have been done without the hard work from our amazing TPC Racing team and the great support from Porsche of Towson. The team has worked so hard this season and we have always brought fantastic cars to the field. It is great winning the team and drivers championship and also to have my teammate David Williams finish second.”

“COTA is one of the greatest sports car racing facilities in North America and it was fantastic to have the opportunity to race there,” stated David Williams. “Getting 3rd place in both the rain and the dry made for a fantastic weekend! Being my first year in the IMSA GT3 Challenge series I didn’t really know what to expect. The level of completion was fantastic and the Porsche Cup car is truly something special to drive. Getting second place in the Gold Championship was very rewarding. I couldn’t have done it without the support of my teammate Michael Levitas and the entire TPC Racing team. Can’t wait for next year!”

With the championship secured, the team goes to Road Atlanta next for the season finale.

This will be the first time that the series and the team will be at Circuit of the Americas, but the Porsche of Towson team is ready for the challenge as point’s leaders in the Gold Class.

After coming off of two wins at the previous rounds in Baltimore, the team has been working around the clock to prepare the cars for Texas. The 35 and 36 Porsche of Towson GT3 Cup cars were taken down to the frame as they were involved in incidents during the weekend. The team has rebuilt the cars and plans to be competitive at Circuit of the Americas.

The three TPC Racing / Porsche of Towson / Merkle drivers are excited to take on another new course this season. Ben Keating, a Texas resident is thrilled to take on the track in the 35 Porsche of Towson entry, Michael Levitas, born in Waco, Texas looks forward to being at Circuit of the Americas in his 36 Porsche of Towson entry and David Williams looks forward to racing in Texas and hopes to fight for the top step of the podium after taking his first win of the year in Baltimore.

“I am very excited to be racing in my home state and especially with the TPC Racing / Porsche of Towson team at Circuit of the Americas,” stated Ben Keating. “The TPC Racing prepared GT3 Cup has always been great this season, and I know we will have a good car that will have a chance to run to the front of the field.”

“Circuit of the Americas is a track I have been looking forward to running this season,” stated Michael Levitas. “The track seems like it is a technical track, and our TPC Racing / Porsche of Towson team has always been able to find a good chassis setup on tracks like that. The team has worked hard since the last round to rebuild the car after an incident in race 2, so I know we will have a good car for Texas and I hope to have a good race with my teammate David Williams in the 37 Merkle / Porsche of Towson car as he won the last race in Baltimore.”

“I am looking forward to racing at Circuit of the Americas,” stated David Williams. “I have heard the track is technical which should make for great racing. The TPC Racing team has always provided me with a great car that I can stay at the front of the pack with, so I look forward to learning this new track and hope to fight for the top step of the podium.”
