The TPC Racing 996/997 CarreraTurbo Conversion
Carrera Body; Turbo Power
So, you have a Porsche 996/997 and love it. But lately, the overall performance has left you looking for something more. You look at the the usual headers, exhaust, intake, ECU flash, etc. but these won't get you the performance you are looking for. You are looking for mind bending acceleration and insane power ready to go at a moments notice. What to do? TPC Racing has now raised the bar for performance for the Porsche 996/997 Carrera with our new TPC Racing 996/997CT Conversion. Are you ready for the most exilerating and exciting Porsche 996/997 Carrera driving experience ever?
With the TPC Racing 996/997CT Conversion, we aimed to create a system that would match/surpass the performance of a 997Turbo. And, with up to 520hp and 450lb/ft of torque on tap, the TPC Racing 996/997CT Conversion is ready to take on any challenges the road has to offer.
TPC Racing has been in the business of developing the high performance modifications for Porsche vehicles for over 2 decades. In that time, TPC Racing has been a lead the industry in developing in forced induction upgrades for the 930Turbo, as well as our TPC Racing Supercharger Kits for the Porsche 964, 993, and 986 Boxster. Next, TPC Racing lead the way in developing the first positive displacement supercharger kits for the Porsche 996 and 997. Now, based off the success of our wildly popular Cayman Turbo Kit, TPC Racing is now ready to release the next revolution in Porsche modifications. Boasting the addition of a single massive turbocharger, the TPC Racing 996/997CT Conversion is capable of producing a whopping +140whp over stock on 93 octane fuel.
520 HORSEPOWER ; 0 COMPROMISE
Just like all TPC Racing Performance Systems, the TPC Racing 996/997CT Conversion was designed to be perfectly at home on both the street and the track. Daily operation is perfect! You can drive this car just as you would a completely stock car, with no issues. Hundreds of hours were spent on the dyno/track/street, perfecting a tune that would not miss or stall in the low rpms; a tune that would allow the car to settle into a nice steady idle with no noticable difference to a stock car. During normal commutes, the TPC Racing 996/997CT operates with smooth on and off throttle transitions and smooth power delivery. The difference between the TPC Racing 996/997CT Conversion and a stock Porsche 996/997 becomes very clear as you start to press the gas pedal closer to the floor. Very quickly, power builds as the massive TPC Racing Turbocharger begins to feed boost to the engine. Before you know it, the scenery outside of the car is streaking by; you feel the rush of acceleration that leaves you gasping for breath. Struggling, you try just to keep up with gear shifts as you blow through the rpms on a tidal wave of power that simply never seems to run out. The car blasts foward with a manacing howl of approval from the included exhaust system!
This immense power tranfers into exteme performance at the track. With the addition of the TPC Racing 996/997CT Conversion, your competition will have to be weary. The TPC 997 Turbo's linear torque band makes for a car that is extremely easy and fun to drive on track, and lacks the huge torque spike of the 997Turbo that can easily overwhelm the rear tires. The TPC Racing 996/997CT is ready for track duty out of the box.
The TPC Racing 996/997CT Conversion was developed as a direct bolt on kit. This system requires absolutely no internal engine modifications necessary to maintain the engine's overall reliability or longevity.

Huge Power; Low Boost
At the heart of the TPC Racing 996/997CT Conversion, is our massive single turbocharger.
"But won't a single massive turbocharger have a lot of lag?"
Through our extensive R&D and enormous knowledge of forced induction, TPC Racing has developed a turbocharger setup that provides instant spooling and has huge mid-range and top end power. What makes this setup even better is that it produces this enormous power on only 5.5lbs of boost. This TPC Racing designed turbocharger has been optimised to produce maximum horsepower, instant spooling, with minimal heat build up.
Staying COOL when things get HOT...
The TPC Racing 996/997CT integrates our tried and true Liquid-to-Air Intercooler System. Considering the rear-engine setup on the 996/997, a Liquid-to-Air Intercooler was naturally the only choice for the job. An Air-to-Air Intercooler can only function at its peak when mounted in a location where it will recieve massive amounts of cool air moving over its entire surface, all the time. With the decklid design on the 996/997 models not designed to handle this much needed airflow, the only other choice was employing the TPC Racing Liquid-to-Air Intercooler System. With over 20 years of developing complete aftermarket turbo/supercharger conversions for the street and track, TPC Racing has designed a system that will effectively cool intake air, no matter what the outside temps are. Using the Porsche OEM mounting locations, Porsche OEM ducting pieces, and TPC Racing's own all aluminum racing radiator, we are able to achieve the lowest intake temps possible. The TPC Racing Liquid-to-Air Intercooler System does not share its coolant supply with the engine, and therefore NEVER reaches the temps seen by the engine radiators.
When we create a final product, TPC Racing is always concerned with all aspects of the system, and not just achieving a certain horsepower. It's about how the entire system comes together. For instance, we took great pains to design the 996/997CT Conversion would maintain a more than adequate ground clearance over bumps, even for cars that are the lowest of the low. We mounted the turbocharger high with bumper on the passenger(US) side of the car. By doing this, we have eliminated the need for any additional oil pumps and guaranteed that oil is not able to pool in the turbocharger once the vehicle has been shut down. Also, by mounting the turbocharger and wastegate higher and to the side, we have been able to safely locate the most critical pieces, of the system, out of harms way; whether from an unexpected bump/pothole, or from an inattentive driver in the lot.
Also, like a factory 996/997Turbo, it is necessary to have some passages in the chassis for routing pipes. We went through several different design concepts until we arrived at one that would include the most minimal chassis modification possible. Our 996/997CT Conversion only requires 1 modification to the chassis to allow for the intake pipe to pass from the engine caompartment to the turbocharger's mounting location.
In keeping with our attention to detail, the turbo piping have been made out of flexible 5-layer reinforced silicone tubing. These attractive pipes make for extremly simple installation, add flexibility to position system components, and will produce absolutely ZERO knocking, squeaking, rubbing, or other irritating sounds produced by ill-fitting hard pipes.
Turbocharger In; Supercharger Out
"TPC Racing has already developed their powerful 997/996 Supercharger Kit; Why would they go through the trouble of engineering a completely new system?"
The TPC Racing 997/996 Supercharger Kit has served us well for many years with hundreds of satisfied customers around the world. However, manufacturing and installation costs as well as a complicatied installation proved to be to much for some prospective owners. Also, with the huge improvements in turbocharger technology over the past few years, we saw the opportunity to create a system that could raise the bar for performance over the supercharger kits currently offered. So, we went back to the drawing board to create a brand new turbo system for the Porsche 997. What was created is a turbo conversion that is less expensive to manufacture. We can therefore pass those savings onto our customers. This system is also dramatically more simple to install than our Supercharger Kit. Instead of having to drop the engine to get the supercharger fitted and installed, most of the components in our Turbo Conversion simply bolt up in place of the stock exhaust system.
In addition to the lower cost and easier installation, the TPC Racing 996/997CT Conversion gives us the ability to produce more power than our Supercharger kit ever allowed, with optional upgrades capable of producing over 550bhp!
